If you've ever listened to country music, you've probably heard the term honky tonk. But what exactly is a honky tonk, and why has it become such an iconic part of country music culture?
At Lil' Nashville, we've brought the heart of Nashville's famous honky-tonks to London, giving guests the chance to experience the atmosphere, music and southern hospitality without leaving the UK.

What Is a Honky Tonk?
Traditionally, a honky tonk is a lively bar or venue where people come together to enjoy live country music, dancing, great food, and good company. Originating in the southern United States, honky-tonks became famous throughout Texas and Tennessee before finding their spiritual home on Broadway in downtown Nashville.
Unlike a standard bar, a honky tonk is all about creating an experience. Live bands perform throughout the day and into the night, guests fill the dancefloor for line dancing, drinks are flowing, and there's an unmistakable sense of community that welcomes everyone through the door.
Over the years, honky tonks have become synonymous with legendary country artists, unforgettable nights, and the authentic spirit of Nashville.
Bringing Nashville to London
The inspiration behind Lil' Nashville came from countless trips to Nashville made by our owners, Rob and Helen. After spending time exploring Broadway's famous honky-tonks, listening to incredible live music, and soaking up the warm southern hospitality, they wanted to recreate that same atmosphere back home in London.
Rather than simply opening another themed bar, their vision was to create an authentic Nashville honky-tonk where guests could experience everything they loved about Music City. Every detail has been carefully considered to capture that genuine feel, from the live country music and welcoming atmosphere to the southern-inspired menu and regular line dancing lessons.
The result is a venue that feels like you've stepped straight into downtown Nashville, while still being right here in London.

More Than Just Live Music
A true honky tonk offers far more than a stage and a bar. At Lil' Nashville, you'll find live country music throughout the week, beginner line dancing lessons every Wednesday and Saturday, intermediate sessions every Sunday, and exciting events that bring together country music lovers from across the UK.
Our famous Big Nash Bash events take the experience even further, featuring multiple live artists, line dancing performances, country DJs, and an electric atmosphere that celebrates everything people love about Nashville.
Add authentic southern comfort food, signature cocktails, ice-cold beers, and plenty of whiskey, and you've got all the ingredients for an unforgettable country night out.
