The First Ever Lil’ Nashville Sessions: An Afternoon of Original Music & Stories

On Sunday 20th September, Lil’ Nashville welcomed a brand-new event to Chiswick: Lil’ Nashville Sessions - an intimate Nashville-style writers round celebrating original music, songwriting and the stories behind the songs.

Bringing Nashville to Chiswick

For the very first Sessions, we welcomed four talented singer-songwriters to the Lil’ Nashville stage: Jake O’Neill, Neeve Zahra, Ruby Lilly and Will Edgar. The afternoon gave guests the chance to experience something a little different from a traditional live music night - putting the spotlight not only on the songs, but on the people and stories behind them.

Writers rounds are a huge part of Nashville’s music culture, where songwriters sit together and take turns performing their original songs while sharing the inspiration and experiences that shaped them. We brought that tradition to West London for an afternoon filled with live music, honest stories and plenty of Nashville spirit.

The Stories Behind the Songs

Each artist took to the stage to perform their own original songs, giving the audience an insight into their individual styles and songwriting journeys. Between performances, they opened up about the meaning behind their music, the experiences that inspired particular songs and what goes into turning an idea into a finished track.

From heartfelt stories to songs with plenty of personality, every performance offered something different. Hearing the artists explain the moments, memories and ideas behind their music made the afternoon feel personal and intimate - like getting a glimpse into the songwriting room itself.

A Country Classic to Finish

And, of course, no Lil’ Nashville event would be complete without a little bit of fun.

To finish the very first Lil’ Nashville Sessions, all four artists came together on stage for a special performance of “Islands in the Stream.” With Jake, Neeve, Ruby and Will sharing the stage, the afternoon ended with the entire room joining in for a classic country favourite - the perfect way to bring our first-ever Sessions to a close.

The Beginning of Something New

The event was a celebration of what we love most about Nashville: great songs, the stories behind them and bringing people together through music. It was also the beginning of something new for Lil’ Nashville as we continue to create a space for original country music and the talented artists making it.
