James Johnston Surprises Fans with a Pop-Up Performance at Lil’ Nashville

When Nashville calls, sometimes you’ve just got to saddle up and make it happen!

Lil’ Nashville recently had the incredible opportunity to welcome Australian country star James Johnston to our Chiswick honky-tonk for a very special surprise pop-up – and we had less than a day to pull the whole thing together.

What followed was an unforgettable evening of country music, line dancing and one seriously special surprise for everyone who came through the doors.

From an Idea to the Dancefloor in Less Than 24 Hours

We’re no strangers to putting on a country party at Lil’ Nashville, but this one was a little different.

With less than 24 hours' notice, we got to work creating an intimate pop-up event centred around two things we absolutely love: live country music and line dancing.

The idea was simple. Fans would come together for a line dancing session featuring James Johnston’s music – with James himself making a very special appearance.

There wasn’t much time to prepare, but that only added to the excitement.

Line Dancing to James Johnston – With James in the Room!

Guests hit the dancefloor to learn routines set to James Johnston’s songs, bringing together two huge parts of the modern country scene: brilliant music and the growing love of line dancing.

But this wasn’t your average line dancing session.

James was there in person to watch everyone dancing along to his music before taking to the stage himself for an exclusive live performance.

There’s something pretty surreal about learning a line dance to an artist’s song and then getting to watch that same artist perform right in front of you!

The intimate setting of Lil’ Nashville made the experience even more special, giving fans the opportunity to enjoy James’ music in the surroundings of an authentic Nashville-inspired honky-tonk.

Hanging Out at Lil’ Nashville

The night didn’t end when the performance finished either.

James stuck around afterwards, hanging out at Lil’ Nashville and spending time with those who had joined us for the event.

It created exactly the kind of relaxed, welcoming atmosphere we wanted Lil’ Nashville to be known for when we first opened our doors in Chiswick.

Our venue was inspired by the honky-tonks of Nashville, where live country music isn’t something experienced from a distance. Artists, fans, dancers and country lovers all come together under one roof, united by the music.

Having an artist like James Johnston perform in our venue – and then simply hang out afterwards – felt like a little piece of that Nashville magic happening right here in London.

Bringing Country Music Closer to UK Fans

Lil’ Nashville was created to give country fans a place to call home in London, with regular live country music, line dancing, Southern food and special events.

Moments like this are exactly why we love what we do.

From receiving the call to pulling together a surprise event in less than 24 hours, welcoming James Johnston to the Lil’ Nashville stage was a night we won’t be forgetting anytime soon.
